Ministry of Industry and Trade permanent secretary Shaheen Ali, right, receives the sponsorship cheque of $10,000 from ANZ head of corporate banking Fiji Rakesh Ram for the Fiji-PNG trade and investment mission next week.
ANZ will be part of Fiji's trade and investment mission delegation to Papua New Guinea next week.
And with the commercial bank's regional office in Fiji, the participation would facilitate operations for other Pacific island countries including PNG.
Speaking at the sponsorship cheque presentation of $10,000 to the Ministry of Industry and Trade yesterday, permanent secretary Shaheen Ali said they were glad to have ANZ in the business delegation led by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
"We will ensure that ANZ is given a due recognition, exposure and acknowledgement at all the trade investment events at the seminar and of course dinner," Mr Ali said.
He said the contribution would be used for the trade investment dinner that Commodore Bainimarama would be hosting in PNG.
ANZ head of corporate banking Rakesh Ram said PNG's remarkable economic growth had created a field of opportunities for business and investment.
"ANZ is respected for having deep understanding of the local market in Fiji and PNG and we welcome the opportunity to work closely and constructively with regulators, government representatives and business communities," Mr Ram said.
He said they looked forward to helping the Fiji business community capture and develop the growing trade and investment opportunities in PNG.
The state visit to PNG will be from April 15-19.
