Library Service Workshop Training for School & Teacher Librarians In The North

“LIBRARY SERVICE WORKSHOP TRAINING FOR SCHOOL & TEACHER LIBRARIANS IN THE NORTH”

The National Archives of Fiji was invited to assist in the training of school and teacher librarians in the Northern division that was hosted by the Library Services of Fiji.

The Senior Conservator, Mr Taito Raione took part during the three days training workshop which was mainly to educate the schools and teacher librarians on the basics of book preservation both in theory & practical exercises.

Mr Raione told the participants that proper care and maintenance on any collection should always be emphasised if one is to properly manage the books & publications that she/ he is to maintain.

“Prevention is always cheap in comparison to the time consuming and expensive treatment of damaged books. Materials and books required for this trade are special and have to be purchased from overseas, if one cannot improvise” Mr Raione told the participants during the training.

Repair work can be avoided be one practice these “Dos and Don’ts of Library Books”, either in the libraries, homes and other places where books are used.

The twenty participants of the three days workshop were all from schools around Labasa.
