Ministry of Education - RM Workshop

IN – HOUSE WORKSHOP ON RECORDS MANAGEMENT FOR MINISTRY OF EDUCATION STAFF

The National Archives of Fiji was invited to facilitate in a one day in-house training workshop on Records Management by the Ministry of Education on 12th August, 2011.

Records Management was part of two days Basic Management Training initiative by the Ministry to upskill its workforce on management issues.

The participants were taken through basic records management issues including the “life cycle of records”, basic functions of the National Archives, legislative development, Records Management Policy and Records retention & Disposal Schedules.

The topics generated a lot of questions from the participants who were eager to know more about the Archives and the work it carries out. Even more exiting was the knowledge of how records are supposed to be maintained in each registry, especially records of newer format such as electronic records most commonly generated by government officials known as emails.

Twenty five participants from the Ministry’s Sections in Suva and Nausori attended the one day workshop which culminated with the tour of the National Archives facilities.
